Couldn’t quite believe it when West Ham United reached out for me to design some cover art for a big cup game in October against Man City
The brief was relatively open – design for Black History Month, to celebrate the various players from black origin to have graced the turf at West Ham. What a privilege! On both counts.

They gave me a list of preferred players to feature on the cover and I managed to pull it together as a concept pretty quick.

The cover features John Charles, Clyde Best, Carlton Cole, George Parris (one of my fav players growing up!), Michail Antonio and the legendary GK Shaka Hislop. I kept each design relatively simple but in my style of flashes of features for each face so you know what player it is.

Additionally, West Ham wanted to provide a pull out ‘select XI’ subbuteo style table football 4-3-3 print as a poster to give away in the middle of the programme.
Amazing opportunity and what a great giveaway for every fan!

I look forward to doing more of these style of commissions through the season for WHU and other teams – get in touch for any commissions!

Featured also within the programme on the inside cover, I found out several weeks later that I’m also featured on the main west ham united website too, with a link over to Half Way Line – legends!

I absolutely love designing commissioned pieces and look forward to doing some more in 2022!
